A Walk near Keramies .......
The story/post by volunteer Evelien
I was walking my dogs with my sister and her partner last Tuesday. We wanted to walk on a hill near the village Keramies. There is a path to a little blue church and behind it a hill with only big rocks. We decided to climb that hill to enjoy the view from up there. As sudden.. we heard a noise and found hidden between big rocks a pile of very young pups! 😳😞
Who would abandon them here?! Far from any kind of shelter, just open and unprotected. No houses nearby. A mother dog would never leave her pups like that so someone must have just put them there. We couldn't believe the luck of us finding them as they were only recently left there! What if we never climbed that hill? Luckily they were all alive and warm. We decided to carry them in our jumpers and bring them to our house.
We found out that 2 had a swelling around the neck.. it didn't look good. We called Amanda the vet and booked quick an appointment for later that day. Since they were so young I decided to foster them myself with the help from my relatives and Stepping Stones. They would need bottle feeding which is a big job when you have 8! Good thing Madeline got many donations with puppy milk powder!
The pups are 5 boys and 3 girls, 2 weeks old. They need feeding every 3 hours so bye bye sleep!
After 4 days we sadly lost one little girl. The once with the absec are doing amazingly well! The others have diarrhea and are struggling now without their mummy...
We have an idea of who did this as its the 4th litter of those type we found.. probably from the same mother. Previous they where dumped at about 6 weeks every 6 months near Stepping Stones. This time it was much further.. more likely they were meant to die there.. It so complicated when you have no prove. We're very grateful for everyone that tries to stop this cruel things. 🙏
